PlayStation is seeking a senior director for its expanded PC strategy
PlayStation is seeking a senior director to lead its PC “planning and strategy”.
According to ajob listing sent to VGC, the role, which is based in San Mateo California is looking for candidates that will be responsible for “the strategy and commercial activity within Global Channel sales and will deliver a single, optimized PC Sales growth and commercial plan”.
The job listing is looking for candidates who can “Lead PC growth and commercial strategy” as well as “Develop and implement global PC store strategy and process”
This comes as Sony continues to expand into the PC space, releasing older first-party titles on Steam and in the case of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection, releasing them at the same time as its PS5 version.
Last year the company formed PlayStation PC, a new publishing label that handles PlayStation’s PC output.
Speaking to Game Informer earlier this year, God of War director Cory Barlog claimed that developers fought for Sony’s biggest games to release on PC.
Sony’s first modern PC ports were Horizon Zero Dawn in August 2020 and Days Gone in May 2021.
Last year SIE’s president confirmed PlayStation would bring “a whole slate” of games to PC.
Speaking to GQ in 2021 SIE boss Jim Ryan said that the opportunity to bring PlayStation’s IPs to a wider audience, as well as an easier port process, meant that making more games for PC was now “a fairly straightforward decision” for the company.
