While the Xbox official mobile app may not be as popular of a social media platform as TikTok, Instagram, or Twitter, that hasn't stopped Microsoft from giving users an app that allows them to combine gaming and social media. Previously, the Xbox Game Pass app had notably given players the opportunity to rack up thousands of Microsoft Points quickly using a rewards system. Besides gaming extras, it seems that the official Xbox app is moving more towards traditional social media features.
The Xbox mobile app is currently trying out a new «Stories» feature. Like the stories in Instagram, the user can post short clips or screenshots for their friends and followers to see for a certain amount of time. Of course, for Xbox app users these stories will largely focus around gaming, and in an official blog post the gaming company stated that gamers will be able to «create, share, and view stories.» Alongside the creation of stories, priority tags can be added with «Quality of Service Tagging.»
PC Xbox App Now Allows Modding
The process of uploading a story on the Xbox app is rather similar to how it works on Instagram. First, a user must click on the + icon next to their gamertag. Then, they must select the type of media they want to share. Once selected, a caption can be selected and the story can be finally previewed before going public. Interestingly, this isn't the first time Xbox has been connected to Instagram, as in March 2022 the latter company used a Halo Augmented Reality filter for users.
