It looks like there was at least one Marvel game announcement that didn’t make it into the recent Disney and Marvel Games Showcase. Electronic Arts officially announced a new Iron Man game coming from Motive Studio. No release window or platforms were given.
However, the team did reveal that it will be a single-player, third-person, action adventure game and is currently early in development. The latter part checks out since Motive is currently heading up the remake that’s slated for January 27, 2023. It will feature an original story that channels “complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark” and is being designed to make players truly feel like Iron Man.
Olivier Proulx is leading this team and has worked on other games like and. Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier were also specifically called out as industry leaders joining Proulx, the latter two of whom worked at Ubisoft on a number of big titles. Proulx gave a statement, calling it a privilege to make such a game.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” said Proulx. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”
Marvel Games Vice President and Creative Director Bill Rosemann also gave a statement on the new title.
