NetherRealm Studios is the developer behind two of the most recognizable franchises in fighting games. The Mortal Kombat series especially has gained a large amount of infamy over the years since the series' arcade days due to brutal fatalities that just get more gory and ridiculous as newer games have been produced. For many fans of Mortal Kombat, this gore and over-the-top action was what initially attracted them to NetherRealm Studios' most famous creation, and has kept them playing over decades.
Mortal Kombat and NetherRealm Studios' popularity was recently shown after it was announced co-creator and game director Ed Boon would be inducted into the AIAS Hall of Fame at the 25th D.I.C.E awards. With the latest game released by the developer being Mortal Kombat 11 back in 2019, many fans are now hoping the studio will announce its next game soon.

Now, a new job listing indicates that a new game is definitely in the works.
There were rumors that NetherRealm would be revealing a new title at the 2021 Game Awards, yet no such announcement was made, with the developer claiming that too many variables were at play to prevent its new game from being shown off.
