Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a much bigger game than its predecessor, ditching the tactical grid-based combat in favor of a more action-oriented approach and also opening the world up for more exploration. Players will need to explore several biomes and defeat a boss at each one while also completing sidequests for the inhabitants.

At certain points throughout the Rabbid-filled adventure, players will see a small gear icon on the screen to signify the game is currently being saved. This icon will appear quite frequently when players do certain things, such as starting a level, completing a level, or other tasks, so players shouldn't have to worry about losing any precious save data. It's worth noting that there is no setting for the auto-save function, so it cannot be toggled on/off.
For those that worry about the auto-saving not working properly, there is a way to manually save at any time (besides during battles) in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. To do so, players can press the + button on their Nintendo Switch to enter the Settings screen. From here, click on Options and then choose a save file to overwrite. Players can also tab over with the right bumper to load one of the five save slots.
