March 25 bears special significance in Middle-earth's history, as it was the day The One Ring AKA Isildur's Bane AKA The Ring of Power was destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom by Frodo and Sam.
This day is celebrated by Tolkien fans each year as Tolkien Reading Day, and Amazon has launched some nice deals on the book series to mark the occasion. All major Middle-earth books, including The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series are marked down right now for Kindle. Outside of the most popular books, Tolkien's The Children of Hurin, The Fall of Gondolin, The Book of Lost Tales, Beren and Luthien, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are discounted nicely as well today.
March 25 in TA 3019 was a very momentous day in Middle-earth's history. Before the One Ring was destroyed, the day played host to the Battle of the Morannon, where Aragorn led many men to battle and their presumed death before Frodo destroyed the One Ring and saved the day. Gollum perished on March 25 as well, while Frodo and Sam were saved by the Eagles from Mordor after destroying the One Ring.
In the year TA 3021, March 25 was the day in Middle-earth when Elanor was born to Sam and Rosie. In the real world, March 25 also happens to be actor Lee Pace's birthday. He played Thranduil in The Hobbit from director Peter Jackson.
Looking ahead, Amazon's Lord of the Rings TV series premieres September 2 on Prime Video. Beyond that, Warner Bros. is making a new anime called War of the Rohirrim in April 2024. Ahead of that, you can find out where to rewatch all the Lord of the Rings movies.
This is happening as The Lord of the Rings movie and video game rights are now up for auction. There haven't been any updates yet on the auction process, but keep checking back
