A remake of one of the most popular Kirby video games, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, was announced during today's Nintendo Direct. Known as Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, it will come out on February 24, 2023, on the Nintendo Switch.
A lot of upcoming Nintendo games were shown off during today's Nintendo Direct, such as Pikmin 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, a remake of one of the most beloved Kirby games was revealed as well.Kirby's Return to Dream Land originally released on the Wii on October 24, 2011, which is considered by many fans to be one of the best Kirby games ever made, so Nintendo decided to remake it for the Switch to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary.

A trailer released along with the announcement of the game, showing off story and gameplay elements of Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, along with added features that were not included in the original release. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe's trailer begins by going over what the game's story is about. After a spaceship crashes into Planet Popstar, Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee go on a journey to help the pilot, Magolor, get back home.
The trailer then transitions to some gameplay mechanics that were in the original version of the game, such as the Sword, Whip, and Parasol copy abilities. Afterwards, the brand-new Mecha copy ability was revealed, which allows Kirby to punch enemies up close and shoot them from afar.
