Actor Scott Mescudi, better known by his music artist name Kid Cudi, joins Brittany Snow's film September 17th. Cudi and Snow very recently starred together in the hit horror film X from Ti West, which was released in theaters on March 18. September 17th will be Snow's first feature-length film as a director, after having previously helmed the 2019 short film Milkshake. Snow is perhaps best known as an actress for her role in the popular Pitch Perfect movie franchise. However, she has been a part of the industry since the late '90s, starring in many films and TV shows over her decades as a performer.
According to Variety, September 17th follows a woman named Riley, who struggles with food and body image issues and has recently left rehab. She meets Ethan soon after and must walk the line between unconditional love and a new addiction. In addition to directing, Snow co-wrote the movie's screenplay with Becca Gleason. She noted she learned a great deal from West as she watched him closely as he directed X, adding, “I hope I can live up to what everyone else has been doing." Cudi said of his casting:
I couldn’t believe that she wanted me in it. She had told me about the movie while we were on set [for X], but she never asked me to be in it. I was like, ‘Maybe she’s waiting to see how [X] turns out.’ It’s gonna be awesome. Really great script.
