The world is going to get ready for the Galaxy S23 series as February approaches but leaks have already started to arrive on the Galaxy S24. Based on a new report from The Elec, it is said that Samsung is already busy preparing the Galaxy S24 series but with a twist. For the last few years, Samsung has been unveiling three new models across different price ranges. For 2024 though, Samsung has different plans.
The report says that Samsung is working on just two models for 2024. The Galaxy S24 series is codenamed as the DM within Samsung and it is known that there are two projects only – the DM1 and DM3. Many suggest that the DM1 refers to the Galaxy S24 and DM2 refers to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It is speculated that the Galaxy S24 Plus maybe has been dropped from the lineup.
As of now, only little is known about the Galaxy S24 series. In fact, despite the flurry of leaks, the Galaxy S23 series is yet to be known completely. Samsung now has a long time for development of the Galaxy S24 series.
Samsung could follow the footsteps of Apple, which dropped the Mini version from its iPhone series in 2022. The iPhone 13 Mini never got a successor and Apple replaced it with a larger iPhone 14 Plus with a 6.7-inch display. We speculate that Samsung could drop the compact 6.1-inch model from the Galaxy S series lineup and stick to the larger 6.5-inch variant as the sole standard model. The Galaxy S24 Ultra could help Samsung's cause in the premium category.
There is also a possibility that Samsung may want to bring the focus on its foldables, which also clash with the Galaxy S series in terms of pricing. Having a compact Galaxy S device may pose issues for Samsung to sell the foldable flip phone. After all, Samsung dropped the Galaxy Note
