Gameloft has delayed the release of upcoming arcade racing game Disney Speedstorm.
Announced in February and previously scheduled to arrive this year, the free-to-play game will now hit PC and consoles in 2023.
Disney Speedstorm is a combat racing game which pits Disney and Pixar heroes and villains against each other on racetracks inspired by the films they appear in.
“We have been working diligently to craft an amazing racing experience for Disney Speedstorm, capturing our vision of the exciting magic fans enjoy in their favorite Disney and Pixar characters and games,” Gameloft said on Wednesday.
“We want fans to not only be entertained, but to enjoy a fast-paced and competitive racing experience they will return to play for years to come.
“With this in mind and after careful consideration, we have decided to delay the worldwide release of Disney Speedstorm to meet our expectations and provide players with a more immersive racing experience, customization offerings, game modes and more.”
Disney Speedstorm will support cross-platform play when it arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
Gameloft said it plans to provide further updates on the game in the next several weeks.
