The best comic book video game that has nothing to do with Spider-Man is going to be free to play if you have Xbox Game Pass.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is not the sort of game you’d expect to have to struggle for recognition. But despite an enormous budget and being based on one of the most popular Marvel series the poor reputation of Square Enix’s Avengers game meant it underperformed when first released.
The situation improved with word of mouth, when everyone realised the reviews were accurate and it was actually a really good game, but now that it’s coming to Game Pass it might finally get its due.
It will be added to Game Pass on March 10, although as a third party game there’s no guarantee how long it will stay there, so you’re best to take advantage of its availability as soon as you can.
Also being added at the same time is Kentucky Route Zero, which also comes highly recommend, and Lawn Mowing Simulator, which does not.
Indie games Young Souls and Far: Changing Tides will also be added, as will the now almost decade old Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13.
Finally, there’s the cloud version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, which requires a good broadband connection but means it can be played on Xbox One for the first time.
Microsoft Flight Simulator and Far: Changing Tides are available now, with Lightning Returns on Thursday, March 3 and all the rest on March 10.
The games leaving Game Pass this month are the superlative NieR:Automata, which you absolutely should play before it disappears on March 15.
We wouldn’t rush so much when it comes to Torchlight 3, The Surge 2, and Phogs! though, which are going on the same day.
