Harley Quinn is just one of the villains you’ll face in Gotham Knights. The latest Gamescom trailer revealed you’ll also have to fight Clayface, Mr. Freeze, and Talon, although there could be more. But Harley is a little different from the other Batman villains that the Knights will throw down with. She’s older, more mature, less driven by her need to show-up her old boyfriend and more direct in her approach to mayhem. She’s her own woman now, and she don’t need no man to tell her how to make Gotham burn.
In an interview with IGN, Gotham Knights creative director Patrick Redding dove deep into WB Montreal’s design philosophy when it came to recreating one of Batman’s most iconic villains.

"She is coming not from a place of, 'Oh, I’ve got to be zany. I'm your manic pixie.' She doesn't need to be the manic pixie anymore," said Redding. "She has gotten to a point where she knows who she is. She has a very clear sense of what her identity is, and she's going to present herself in this much stronger, developed supervillain way."
In the Gamescom trailer, Harley clearly escapes incarceration to become a thorn in the Knights' side. As noted by Redding, her story will be a little extra villainous compared to the Harley Quinn represented in other media. It'll be sort of like if Quinn never got her "nicer" break in Suicide Squad and just kept on the path of evil.
Representing that progression involved aging Harley up a smidgen to represent her newfound maturity, and this in turn helped inform other aspects of her character in Gotham Knights. "It informed a bunch of the performance choices that were made in
