Recently, Coffee Stain publishing revealed Goat Simulator 3's release date to be November 17. The original Goat Simulator is known for its wild antics with goats, with just about anything and everything possible in the simulator itself. The reveal, of course, was just as zany as anyone who has played Goat Simulator would expect, but perhaps the wildest detail is in the name.
There is noGoat Simulator 2. Coffee Stain is going straight from the first entry into a threequel, with no explanation given thus far. Of course, the obvious reason is that such a move is as hilarious as the original game's contents, and it's something few games could get away with in the industry. However, in a recent PlayStation Blog, Coffee Stain Publishing acknowledge fan «confusion» around the strange title. It seems the publisher asked a bunch of devs from Coffee Stain North to explain why the next title was Goat Simulator 3, but even though there is a plethora of answers, Coffee Stain says it couldn't get a straight answer «which isn't totally surprising as they are a bit of a strange bunch.»

Rasmus Bjork said it's because there are three goats on the box art, while programmer Olivia Follin reportedly responded, «Wait, we didn't make a Goat Simulator 2?» 3D Artist Philip Bretschneider said there was a reason, but he's forgotten it, while one Game Producer turned it back on the publishing team: «Someone from the publishing team said it and we didn't want to correct them.» Another reason this title is a threequel, according to creative director Santiago Ferroro, is because the title God of War: Ragnarok was already taken.
