Elden Ring is out on all platforms, and while the game received stellar reviews from critics, PC players aren't being quite so charitable. That's largely due to performance issues on Steam where the game suffers from frame drops and constant stuttering in the open-world areas. This has led to Elden Ring receiving a "mixed" review score from users on Steam--a stark contrast to the near-perfect score it received from most publications.
Developer FromSoftware acknowledged Elden Ring's poor performance on PC today and asked for angry PC players to remain calm. "We are currently experiencing some issues that are preventing the game from playing properly under some conditions," wrote FromSoft. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your patience."

Another issue is Easy Anti-Cheat failing to launch if players have a Steam account name that is set to two bytes. That'll get fixed soon too.
But easily the biggest issue is the generally poor PC performance. For this, FromSoft said it "will be constantly working to improve the game so that it can be played comfortably on various PC environments and platforms." No timeframe was provided for those improvements, and instead, Fromsoft recommended all players on PC ensure they have the latest GPU drivers.
