The unique Framework laptop is built from the ground up to be user-upgradable, and now you can purchase refurbished versions in a bid to make these laptops last even longer.
Framework is committed to developing products for longevity, and this week launched the Framework refurbished program(Opens in a new window) to further that goal. Initially, refurbished versions of the Framework Laptop DIY Edition will be offered in the US and Canada with a choice of three 11th Gen Intel Core processors. Refurbished expansion card packs will also be offered for sale.
"By purchasing one of our excellent-quality refurbished products, you can help contribute to a circular economy by reusing manufactured parts and reducing waste," said Marissa Buyck, product marketing manager at Framework.
When you purchase a new Framework laptop, most of the components it contains are fully replaceble by the owner. With that in mind, this refurbished program ends up being much better vale than buying other refubished laptops. Not only are you buying a working laptop at a reduced price, you can continue to upgrade it as and when you need to.
The refurbished laptops are sourced from any returns the company receives, which then go through an extensive testing and cleaning process. However, Buyck says, "we’ve received so few returns that we haven’t been able to build refurbished inventory for sale just yet," which is a nice problem to have. It also means anyone looking to purchase a refurbished Framework laptop will need to be patient.
