As a live-service game, Fortnite's world and lore are constantly evolving. With every new update that gets released, more and more hidden details and story beats are added to Fortnite, ranging from pop-culture references to new characters and even world events. It's usually the case that every new Season of Fortnite brings a new form of threat to the game, whether that's the Imagined Order NPC army or Marvel's gigantic villain Galactus. Fortnite's latest threat is a mysterious new Chrome substance, which is seemingly being controlled by a pink being known as The Herald.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 brought a lot of new content to the game. On top of the new 100-tier Battle Pass that includes skins like Marvel's Spider-Gwen, Season 4 of Fortnite adds a handful of new items and weapons to the game, and of course, brings about some significant map changes. All of these new additions come from this new Chrome threat and its leader The Herald, who sits in her sanctum plotting and waiting for unsuspecting players to drop into her new domain.
Fortnite 5 Years Later — Becoming a Worldwide Phenomenon
The Herald was first spotted in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, during the cinematic intro trailer. As the protagonists all began to celebrate their victory over the Imagined Order, the camera pans out, showing the heroes inside an orb in a darkened room. A pink face then comes into frame, showing that The Herald is watching the celebrations, presumably plotting something sinister.
