There are only a few weeks left before Chapter 4 starts.
There’s less than a month before Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4 comes to a halt. With the end date looming above our heads, it’s time to look ahead and see the next to expect in the battle royale. There’s not a lot of confirmed stuff for the next season; the leaks have been few and far between these days. Nevertheless, the rumors and some datamined information are aplenty for us to deduce to see which are real and which aren’t. From starting dates to skins we’ll soon see in the Fortnite item shop, there’s much to discuss.
Compared to the previous Chapters, Chapter 3 was much shorter in terms of its run time. Nevertheless, a new map can be expected when Chapter 4 is officially underway. That means we must say goodbye to the Artemis map since the island will have a new look again. Before the current season began, leakers noted a reference in files to a new map called Asteria. Other names were included, such as Artemis, Apollo, and Athena—these are the maps for the past three chapters. Athena was the map for Chapter 1, Apollo for Chapter 2, and Artemis is the current island.
As always, there are numerous possibilities when introducing a new chapter. Here’s everything we know about what players with Fortnite accounts can expect about the Chapter 4: Season 1 map.
According to FNLeaksandInfo, a Fortnite leaker on Twitter, it looks like we’ll be getting a new stadium somewhere on the map—at least based on the game files that were datamined. The image is, unfortunately, blurry, but if you look closely, you can vaguely see the color scheme and the layout of a football stadium.
We’ve had stadiums in Fortnite before, so having one dedicated to football isn’t all that surprising. Remember when Epic Games introduced a soccer stadium back then as a collaboration with the World Cup? How about Pleasant Park, which was a POI that was featured in Chapters 1 and 2? That place featured a soccer field near the hall and was considered a landmark. It was a popular place back then, considering it was one of the main hot spots players used to drop in (aside from Tilted Towers). With that in mind, having a new stadium to match the World Cup happening in Qatar isn’t such a bad idea.
Another “location” included in the game files is a POI with the codename DDMachine. We’re still unsure as to where this place is supposed to be, but since it has an association with the words “lightning” and “thermal,” we can expect some kind of weather station or, at best, a place that uses machines that you must use with high caution. Whatever the case, DDMachine sounds like an intriguing place and is one that we can expect players to explore once Chapter 4 drops into the fray.
Formally known as Unreal Editor for Fortnite, Fortnite Creative 2.0 has long been rumored for a December release. This is a big deal for the battle royale since the Unreal Editor can allow creators to use the Unreal Engine to create more advanced worlds in Fortnite’s Creative mode. Thanks to these robust tools, players can finally build whole games inside Fortnite. It wouldn’t surprise us to see Fortnite being shifted into more of a platform than just a video game in the long run.
At first, it looked like Fortnite would be ushering this upcoming mechanic together with the introduction of Chapter 4. Sadly, after announcing the Fracture event, Tim Sweeney—the CEO of Epic Games—took to Twitter and stated that the Unreal Editor for Fortnite has been delayed until late January 2023. It’s still scheduled to release for Chapter 4: Season 1, mind you—it just won’t be available at launch.
Fortnite Chapter 4: Season 1 is going to begin on December 4. When Fortnite first transitioned to a new chapter after ending Chapter 1, it took Epic Games nearly two days to patch the necessary updates. Then, after Chapter 2, players with Fortnite accounts only had to wait a day. Considering Epic’s improvement in delivering the new Chapter 3 as fast as possible, we can expect Fortnite to be back online after the Fractured event.
