One of the most prominent characters in Elden Ring is Fia the Deathbed Companion, a Tarnished mentioned in the game’s opening cutscene and whose story can alter the future of the Lands Between. While Fia’s quest is an exciting one, it can often be confusing to follow, so here is everything you need to know in order to complete it.
Fia the Deathbed Companion can first be found in the Roundtable Hold, Elden Ring’s hub area. This legendary Tarnished can be located in the right-hand side of the Hold, sitting upon a bed in the room next to the blacksmith.
When you first speak with Fia, she'll offer to hold you. A rather odd request for a Souslike game, but to progress her story you'll need to accept this offer.
When you accept, you'll receive a Baldachin's Blessing. This item is a double-edged sword, as it will boost your poise, but temporarily lower your maximum HP by approximately 5%. This debuff will last until the item leaves your inventory.
You can return to Fia for as many hugs and Baldachin's Blessings as your Tarnished heart desires.
To progress Fia's questline you must return to her a number of times, until a dialogue option appears in which she asks you for a favor. It is currently unknown what exactly triggers this step, although it usually appears after you have reached the Atlus Plateau.
