The lamest hero in the entire Dragon Ball line-up finally got his long-awaited redemption after decades of absolutely sucking. Yamcha is perhaps the worst of the Z-Fighters, at least the one with the worst reputation, all because of an embarrassing defeat he suffered in the early pages of Dragon Ball Z. However, in one of his latest battles, Yamcha proves himself to be much more formidable than fans ever gave him credit for.
In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 59 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, Moro and his forces have launched a full-scale invasion of Earth, and all of the planet’s defenders are armed and ready to defend their world. Unfortunately, at this point Goku and Vegeta are off-world as they are each finishing up their training on different planets. That means, the only fighters left on Earth to fight Moro’s army were Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha.

Based on Moro’s terrifying power and the strength of his fierce army, it seems as though the Earth is completely screwed with this line-up as its only defenders. However, in an odd twist of fate, Yamcha is able to take down an entire horde of Moro’s army single-handedly, a feat that surprised even those Yamcha was fighting. One of the invaders says, “You looked so freakin’ weak…” to which Yamcha replied, “Aw, you think? I’m actually one of the three strongest Earthlings around.” This brief conversation and Yamcha’s example of power was seemingly a message from Toriyama to readers that Yamcha has been officially redeemed and should be taken more seriously from now on.
