PC games can provide interactive stories that are just as compelling as a high-quality film. As Dusk Falls, from developer Interior Night, promises to deliver a gripping crime yarn that you control. But before you guide this story of “betrayal, sacrifice and resilience,” see if your PC has the chops to run the game.
As Dusk Falls(Opens in a new window) is developed by indie team Interior/Night, but it’s published by Xbox Game Studios. Thus, it has received some attention as a highlighted title at Xbox showcases. The art style also stands out, with characters rendered as photorealistic illustrations. The images capture key emotions from the performers as they shift from scene to scene like a motion comic. Real on-set actors, including Jack Bandeira, Jane Perry, and Elias Toufexis, had their likenesses integrated into the game.
Ever since Telltale Games imploded, genre fans have clamored for more adventure games with player-shaped narratives. As Dusk Falls looks to carry on that tradition. As Dusk Falls is also a grounded story about real people, tracing two toxic Arizona families over decades. You won’t find that in most other games.
The $29.99 As Dusk Falls is available on Steam(Opens in a new window), as well as Microsoft’s own digital store(Opens in a new window) starting July 19. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play it on day one for no additional fee.
