It looks like Marvel is about to give the Devil his due. Deadline is reporting actor/comedian Sacha Baron Cohen will be part of the new Disney+ series, Ironheart, taking on the role of Mephisto. The actor has been spotted at the Marvel facilities located at UK's Pinewood Studios. Both Marvel and Cohen's reps declined to comment about confirmation.
Heavily speculated, then quickly debunked, to have been part of WandaVision, Mephisto is a powerful demon lord that is responsible for a list of heinous acts committed by characters in the Marvel Universe. Mephisto is reportedly poised to appear in other projects, including, but not limited, to the upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos series with Kathryn Hahn reprising her role.
Ironheart star Anthony Ramos will don the supernatural cloak and boots of the villainous Hood who gained his powers with a pact with a demon. A quick rewrite and you could have Mephisto in that role instead.
Mephisto was previously portrayed by the iconic actor Peter Fonda in 2007's Ghost Rider and Ciaran Hinds in its 2012 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor since the first Iron Man. The previously announced cast also includes the aforementioned Ramos, Manny Montana, Shakira Barrera, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Shea Couleé, and Zoe Terakes.
