Elden Ring VR sounds like an incredible experience, and one modder is trying to make that possible in the near future. Modder LukeRoss, via their Patreon project, is aiming to slowly create a playable version of the game in VR.
Ross says that this has been a “work in progress” for some time, and is aiming to have a “playable version by the end of next week,” which will be part of their Patreon subscription. They also hint that your “VR legs will need to be in shape,” as the game will require a lot of standing for lengthy periods of time.
As Ross informs PC Gamer, the third person version in VR will be playable, but it doesn’t sound like a great idea: “Third-person in this game is really far away (about 5 meters on average) and that doesn’t work very well in VR. Instead of being in the thick of action, you’re kind of like ‘Hey, is something going on over there?’ Nevertheless, I’m going to leave the original camera as an option for purists. I’ll probably also add an intermediate, close-third-person camera. But I think the first-person camera is where it’s at.”
As a whole, VR sounds like a perfect way to play the game: crypts being a standout. So many things are deliberately hidden behind walls to pop out at inopportune moments, which is tailor-made for VR.
