Square Enix has announced plans to hold a Final Fantasy 7 25th anniversary steam next week.
The 10-minute broadcast will air on June 16 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST. It will be viewable on YouTube and Twitch.
“At only around 10 minutes long, it will be short and sweet, but we have packed in lots of information, so I hope everyone can look forward to the unveiling,” teased FF7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura.
The event appears likely to include information on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, since Square Enix has previously indicated that it would like to share details on the sequel during this anniversary year.
Few details have been revealed about FF7 Remake Part 2 so far, other than confirmation last year that Naoki Hamaguchi, the co-director of FF7 Remake Part 1, will take over full directing duties for the follow up as Nomura takes on a broader creative director position.
Nomura has also said that, compared to last year’s Intergrade re-release, Part 2 will make more use of PS5’s unique hardware features.
Square Enix released a new Final Fantasy 16 trailer last week, showing off fresh gameplay and confirming a summer 2023 release window.
Veteran Final Fantasy producer and former franchise brand manager Shinji Hashimoto retired last month. He joined Square Enix in 1995 and was a producer or executive producer on virtually every Final Fantasy instalment since 1997’s Final Fantasy 7.
