On 90 Day Fiancé season 9, cast member Bilal Hazziez is being criticized by viewers for playing a prank on his partner Shaeeda Sween, who he suspects is a gold digger. Dad of two Bilal is a 42-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, and Shaeeda is a 37-year-old from Trinidad and Tobago. Bilal, who’s still close friends with his ex-wife, met Shaeeda when she messaged him online. Bilal avoided talking to Shaeeda because her name was so similar to his first wife of 10 years, Shahida. Season 9 star Bilal met Shaeeda anyway and he spent just seven days with her in Trinidad and Tobago before they got engaged and started the K-1 visa process.
While in conversation with his ex Shahida, Bilal revealed that Shaeeda wasn’t too aware of his financial status in the U.S. Picky Bilal, who found love after seven years, did a nikah—a religious but not legally-binding marriage ceremony—with Shaeeda so they could stay together in America as a couple before getting married. Shahida asked if Shaeeda loved Bilal for his personality or for his big house and Mercedes. Bilal claimed that even on video calls, he had never shown Shaeeda the material things he amassed due to his successful job in real estate. “There are some people who they consider gold diggers out there and there’s a lot of things that we still don’t know about each other,” said Bilal. In a later scene on 90 Day Fiancé season 9, Bilal told the producers that he wanted to play a prank on Shaeeda with the help of his older sister Nefertari and get her to his childhood home and “put her to a test.”
