The Conners Showrunner Says Updating Opening Credits Is Being Discussed
The Conners showrunner Bruce Helford is discussing the idea of updating the series' opening credits. The ABC sitcom, originally created as a spin-off continuation of the beloved series Roseanne, first premiered in 2018. Four years into its run, the show remains extremely popular among television audiences. Roseanne was cancelled 10 seasons in following racist remarks made by Roseanne Barr. As a result, further plans to extend its story caused development of the series to pivot and restructure. The network instead opted to focus on the Conners as a working-class family facing the daily struggles of life after the death of Roseanne's character, with a constant sense of wit and humility. Excluding Barr, The Conners brought back much of the original Roseanne cast in John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, and Emma Kenney.
