Govt issues takedown orders for PFI websites, social media accounts
The Indian government has declared the PFI outfit unlawful in India earlier in the day, and now has issued takedown orders for their online presence. The PFI and its affiliate organisations have been declared an "unlawful association" by the Indian government under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The reason behind this is said to be the outfit's links with the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Islamic State or ISIS, and claims that the PFI is involved in multiple criminal and terror cases.
