creator Dan Erickson knows how he wants the Apple TV+ series to end. Severance premiered on Apple TV+ in February 2022. The psychological thriller series stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, Britt Lower as Helly Riggs, Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick, Zach Cherry as Dylan George, John Turturro as Irving Bailiff, Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman, and Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel.
The second season of Severance is scheduled to premiere on January 17, 2025. It will consist of ten episodes. Speaking with io9 about Severance Season 2, Erickson was asked if he had thought about how he’d ideally like the show to conclude. “I have a pretty solid idea of the endpoint of the show,” he answered. “I have kind of a final scene that has always been in my head and answers to some of the big questions.
I think you sort of have to know those in order to know the rules of the world that you’re writing. But also, I think it’s balanced because I like to be surprised by the show too.
Sometimes we’ll meet a new character or find a new location or element of the show that I am surprised to find myself in love with and all of a sudden it’s like, ‘Well, now that has to be part of it.
We can’t just leave that there. We have to make that a part of the bigger story.’ And that’s where a lot of the fun comes in.
