Updates have been given about a Blonde Phantom project, a live-action Wakanda series, and more MCU titles. Marvel Studios recently released Captain America: Brave New World in United States movie theaters.
The company is now getting ready to premiere Daredevil: Born Again in March before Thunderbolts* then arrives in May. Following a recent report from Deadline that Marvel has paused development on series such as Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc., a new report has emerged regarding some other MCU projects that are in the works.
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, the bulk of Marvel’s TV division is being spent “on wrapping up the back half of Daredevil: Born Again (the first half arrives March 4), finishing post-production on Wonder Man, and starting up the Vision series.” Sneider did, however, note that “Marvel is believed to still be developing Blonde Phantom with Scarlett Johansson.” There’s been no official announcement that Johansson will star in a Blonde Phantom movie or television show; however, it’s been rumored to be in the works for some time.
Both Johansson and Kevin Feige have teased that they were working on a “non-Black Widow-related top-secret Marvel Studios project” before, though little else beyond that has been confirmed.
Additionally, Sneider noted that Marvel Television is also continuing to develop a “big live-action Wakanda show,” which would be different than the forthcoming Eyes of Wakanda animated series. “Marvel would love to bring back WandaVision’s Jac Schaeffer, who just signed on to direct the Holes series for Disney+,” Sneider further noted. “She could ultimately return to direct a Young Avengers/Champions project.” Whether or not any of these projects come to fruition remains to be seen, as the Deadline article notes that Marvel’s current strategy is to develop more projects than they will ultimately end up making.
