has closed a deal to write and direct a new Labyrinth movie. In December 2024, Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider reported that Eggers had closed a deal to co-write and direct a sequel to 1986’s Labyrinth, which was directed by Jim Henson and stars Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie.
There’s been little news about the project since then; however, Deadline is now confirming the news. Eggers is writing the project with Sigurjón Birgir Sigurðsson, better known as Sjón, who he previously collaborated with on 2022’s The Northman.
It was also recently announced that Eggers is making a new werewolf movie, titled Werwulf, which he’s also co-writing with Sjón.
That film has a December 25, 2026, release date from Focus Features. Chris and Eleanor Columbus will produce Eggers’ new Labyrinth movie alongside Lisa Henson, while Brian Henson serves as an executive producer.
Plot details for the film remain under wraps at this time. It’s unclear whether or not Connelly will reprise her role as Sarah Williams.
