Helldivers 2 Drops To "Mostly Negative" On Steam After PSN Sign-In Controversy

thegamer.com

Helldivers 2's Steam page has taken an absolute beating over the last 48 hours, with 68,000 recent reviews causing it to drop to a "Mostly Negative" rating thanks to the PSN sign-in controversy.

Without a doubt, one of the biggest surprises of 2024 so far has been Helldivers 2, which launched to little hype and quickly went on to be one of the biggest games PlayStation has ever published, both on PC and PS5.

That positive response and excitement has only gotten bigger over the past few months and, for a time, it seemed like Helldivers 2 could do no wrong, but we now know that's not the case.

A few days ago, PlayStation announced that Helldivers 2 players on Steam would be required to sign into a PlayStation Network account to play the game (something that was supposed to be the case at launch), which it claimed was being done to protect players and allow griefers to be banned.

This is despite Sony previously saying that sign-ins for its games would be optional, something it quickly went back on. The response to this change has been catastrophic for Helldivers 2, with players even calling for refunds due to the change and the game's director apologising for the situation over on Twitter.
