GKIDS has finally announced the Blu-ray and digital release date for its latest fantasy coming-of-age anime movie, based on Takashi Imashiro’s manga of the same name.

This comes after the movie had its U.S. theatrical debut in November 2024. “Precocious tween Karin finds herself abandoned by her father in rural Japan.

Living in a temple with her grandfather, she meets Anzu, a giant ‘ghost cat’ and notorious layabout tasked with looking after her,” reads the synopsis. “Distrustful of her new guardian, Karin sabotages Anzu’s odd jobs for the townsfolk and befriends the eccentric local forest spirits.

In an effort to win Karin over, Anzu accidentally makes a deal with the devil, and all Hell breaks loose.” Ghost Cat Anzu will be available to rent or own on digital platforms, starting on January 26.

It will then be followed by its Blu-ray release on March 4, which will include bonus features. Since making its debut, the film has earned an 86% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 50+ ratings.
