director Shawn Levy has assured fans that the highly anticipated movie won’t need a ton of Marvel Cinematic Universe knowledge to watch.
Speaking to AP News, Levy was asked about the overarching Marvel multiverse, and whether or not fans will need to know a lot about the MCU before going into Deadpool & Wolverine.
Levy joked that while he doesn’t mind homework, he doesn’t want to do it for movies, and that the Deadpool 2 sequel is “built for entertainment.” “I was a good student in school.
I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies,” Levy said. “I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world.
But I didn’t want to presume that. This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.” Deadpool & Wolverine is directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay written by Ryan Reynolds, Levy Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
