is denying the reports claiming that he’ll appear in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Evans has played Captain America/Steve Rogers in a number of MCU projects.
His final outing as the character was seemingly in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame; although, Evans then did reprise his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
In December 2024, Deadline reported that Evans would be returning to Marvel for Avengers: Doomsday. The report didn’t clarify whether he would reprise his role as Steve Rogers or play an entirely new character, though Anthony Mackie’s Captain America/Sam Wilson is expected to be featured in the ensemble picture.
Speaking with Esquire, however, Evans said that the reports of his MCU return are untrue. “This always happens,” Evans said. “I mean, it happens every couple years—ever since Endgame.
I’ve just stopped responding to it.” He further noted that he is “happily retired” from Marvel at this time, which is a sentiment he has also previously shared with Mackie.
