While rumours and speculation for a potential remaster or sequel to one of FromSoftware’s most critically-acclaimed titles, Bloodborne, have been swirling around for quite some time now, both Sony and FromSoftware have been quiet about the game.

Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida believes that the reason for the lack of any new Bloodborne-related announcement might just be a lack of time.

In a recent episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast, Yoshida mentions that, while he doesn’t know what the situation surrounding Bloodborne is, the lack of any new announcement or game might just come down to the fact that Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki might just not have the time to work on it. “I have only my personal theory to that situation,” explained Yoshida in the interview, which you can watch below. “I left first party so I don’t know what’s going on, but my theory is… Miyazaki-san really loved Bloodborne, you know, what he created.

So I think he is interested but he’s so successful and he’s so busy, so he… cannot do it himself, but he does not want anyone else to touch it.” Yoshida also stated that, since PlayStation has avoided bringing it up because it wants to respect Miyazaki’s wishes. “So that’s my guess, theory,” said Yoshida. “I am not revealing any secret information, just to be clear.” Back in 2024, Miyazaki had also spoken about Bloodborne, and how important the IP was to FromSoftware.

However, Miyazaki also mentioned that just having new hardware wasn’t the be-all and end-all reason to make a new game, and that accessibility would be a bigger concern.
