Fallout 4 Tops UK Sales Chart This Month, EA Sports FC 24 Comes In At A Close Second

The latest round of GSD game sales data has just released, and we have a surprising revelation for this month. Bethesda’s Fallout 4 which originally released in 2015 saw a sudden spike in sales, and that too to the point that it has topped sales charts for the month of April 2024 in the UK region. EA FC 24 came in a close second followed by Helldivers 2 which has turned out to be one of the biggest surprise hits of the year. Total sales of video games in the region amount to 2.23 million units, which is 7% lower than last year. In a similar vein, sales of game consoles are also down by 39% – as reported by Gamesindustry.biz.

The recent release of Fallout’s TV series is the primary reason behind this sudden surge in sales, and other entries like Fallout 76 and Fallout: New Vegas have also seen similar spikes in sales this month. Russ Nickel, former lead writer of Helldivers 2, was recently interviewed by Inverse, where he explained that developers Arrowhead didn't decide it was going to be a service game until well after beginning work on it. Its popularity sure suggests it was the right call to make. «This feels like what live service was born to do», Nickel said. «For a while, Arrowhead didn't know if the sequel was going to be a live-service title.
