Evercade manufacturer announces partnership with SNK

Evercade manufacturer Blaze Entertainment has announced a new partnership with SNK Corporation.

The deal will see Blaze releasing officially licensed products “from the history of the Neo Geo video gaming system” in 2025 and 2026.

Although Blaze’s announcement doesn’t directly specify that this means Neo Geo games will arrive on Evercade products, it did release a short teaser video showing the Neo Geo startup sequence with an Evercade logo included.

The Evercade line of products consists of handhelds, consoles and arcade cabinets which specialise in playing retro games.

Evercade’s unique selling point is that all of its devices have a slot for Evercade’s range of cartridges, each of which contains a themed selection of retro and indie games.

There are currently more than 60 Evercade cartridges available, with over 500 officially licensed retro games spanning five decades of video games.

The lack of SNK and Neo Geo in these cartridges has been notable, meaning Evercade players will doubtless be hoping this new deal will result in the release of Neo Geo cartridges for their existing Evercade systems.

It may also lead to SNK versions of the Evercade Alpha, the recently released bartop arcade machine. Two of these are currently available, each offering a selection of Capcom games (and each still featuring a slot for Evercade cartridges).

“This partnership with SNK is a milestone moment for Blaze,” CEO Andrew Byatt said in a statement. “These games represent some of the most iconic and innovative titles in gaming history, and to bring them to our family of products is a privilege.

“This partnership isn’t just about adding great games, it’s about celebrating the artistry and legacy of Neo Geo in a way that’s accessible to fans old and new. We’re thrilled to give these classics a new platform in 2025.”
