says there was one line of dialogue that he didn’t want to say to Nicole Kidman’s character in .
A24’s Babygirl was released in United States theaters last month. The erotic thriller movie is directed by Bodies Bodies Bodies’ Halina Reijn and stars Kidman as Romy Mathis and Dickinson as Samuel.
In the movie, Romy, who is the CEO of a tech company, strikes up an affair with Samuel, despite the fact that he’s much younger and an intern at the company she manages. Their relationship takes some twists and turns as they explore power dynamics and attempt to keep it a secret from Romy’s husband, Jacob (Antonio Banderas), and two daughters.
Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, via TheWrap, Dickinson opened up about a line that was in the script but that he didn’t want to say to Kidman’s character.
Dickinson said, “There’s a line in it where I say, like, I’m in the car with her and I say, ‘I’m not interested in that, you look like a mother.’ And I said to Halina, our director, I was like, ‘I can’t say that.’ That’s really, that’s a little bit rude, isn’t it?”
Babygirl also stars Sophie Wilde as Esme, Esther McGregor as Isabel, and Vaughan Reilly as Nora.
The logline for the movie reads, “A high-powered CEO puts her career and family on the line when she begins a torrid affair with her much younger intern.”
Dickinson also said of playing Samuel in the movie, “For an intern to do that as well to the boss — that was hard to do, as well. Like for me to have to come in and do that to Nicole Kidman and I was like, well how do I do this?”
Babygirl is now playing in United States theaters.
