PlayStation Stars loyalty program launches in Europe, Australia and New Zealand

Sony’s new PlayStation Stars loyalty program launches today in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

It follows the rewards scheme’s Asian launch on September 29 and rollout in the Americas on October 5.

PlayStation Stars is initially available via the PlayStation App and will expand to consoles at a later date.

It’s free to join for adult PlayStation Network account holders and doesn’t require a PlayStation Plus membership, although having one offers additional benefits.

“There are two types of rewards – loyalty points and digital collectibles,” Sony explained recently. “Points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds, exclusive digital collectibles and select PlayStation Store products.

“As an additional benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in PlayStation Stars automatically earn points for purchases on PlayStation Store.”

At launch, simply by joining, all members receive the Star Gazer Telescope. A number of upcoming digital collectibles were revealed in the trailer above, which first aired during a State of Play presentation last month.

These collectibles will only be available through PlayStation Stars.
