Weta Workshop has announced a second delay for its Hobbit life simulator game Tales of the Shire. Originally slated to come out on PS5 next month, it's now been pushed back again by four months to 29th July 2025. The news was part of a statement posted to the game's social media channels, though an exact reason for the delay wasn't shared.
Instead, the developer said it wants Tales of the Shire to feel like «a warm hug from Middle-earth, and we are making sure that no matter where you play, you'll feel right at home in The Shire». The focus on «no matter where you play» in the statement may suggest some platforms aren't running the game as well as others, but that's speculation due to the lack of details in the post.
«We appreciate your patience and cannot wait for you to experience life in The Shire this summer», the post said. «In the meantime, arrange the table, polish your silver, and get ready for a feast fit for a Hobbit!»
We played Tales of the Shire at Summer Game Fest last year, and thought it to be charming and relaxed. «We're curious to see how the game holds up over the course of a full playthrough, because it seems relatively simplistic, even if that is by design. Whatever the case, fans of Tolkien's work, or those who want to lose themselves in a cosy world, will surely find a lot to like here.»

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he's found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
I am okay with this. Have plenty of games to play in meantime. And means they can focus on making it as polished as possible. I for one, am still looking forward to it's release.
Maybe because the hype for it is non existent,the art style didn't helped it either.
I keep reminding myself this isn't a mobile game.
