Indie horror-thriller Martha is Dead has been the subject of controversy after it was revealed that Sony required some content to be removed from the game's PlayStation versions. The first-person game takes place in the Tuscany region of Italy during the latter years of World War 2, where the player character's sister, Martha, has been found dead, seemingly as a result of being drowned. It is unapologetically graphic, containing extreme violence and disturbing imagery which has apparently caused Sony to step in and censor Martha is Dead on PlayStation.
Roughly two weeks before Martha is Dead launched, developer LKA and publisher Wired Productions revealed that the PlayStation version's physical copies had been delayed due to Sony requiring certain content be altered in the game. While the announcement wasn't elaborated on, a graphic clip from early looks at the game was then circulated, with many correctly proposing that it might be what Sony took issue with. The excerpt from Martha is Dead featured the player engaging in a quick time event (QTE) where the player character cuts the face off of a corpse. While the scene is certainly stomach-turning, many people became angry about Martha is Dead getting censored by Sony.

Now that the game has released, IGN has pinpointed all of the changes made to the PlayStation versions. Broadly speaking, all visual components of Martha is Dead are intact.
