The Splatoon 3 special will arrive alongside a collection of new weapons and kits that players will be able to start trying out on March 1.
Splatoon 3 releases content updates every three months, with each quarter of the year making up a set season. Chill Season will come to a close at the end of February, at which point players will no longer be able to acquire items in the current catalog and will be moved to the next catalog.

While fresh looks and locker decorations have a lot of fans excited, a brand-new special weapon is also joining the fray. The Super Chump was previously teased but unnamed, leaving fans wondering if it would be a bomb or a special weapon. Now, the dev team has detailed how it works. When a user's special charge meter fills up, they can deploy the Super Chump, which fires a series of blue bomb-like decoys with smiling faces all over the targeted area. After a set period of time, the Super Chump decoys all explode, dealing damage to anyone in the area and spreading the player's ink.
The Super Chump decoys can be exploded by enemy players who target them, though in the midst of battle, a few moments of occupying a set area may be all it takes to turn the tide of the fight, especially in modes like Splat Zones.
