Robert Pattinson's portrayal of the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' The Batman caught the attention of many people, especially longtime friend and fellow actor Eddie Redmayne. Now, the Fantastic Beasts 3 star recalls not recognizing Pattinson after his transformation into the iconic comic book character.
WhenPattinson was first cast as The Batman back in 2019, many fans were skeptical if the actor could look the part, especially when looking back at Ben Affleck's brawny depiction in the DCEU. It didn't help when the actor blatantly told GQ in 2020 that he would not spend as much time working on his physique. But fast-forward a couple of years later and from the first few trailers, it was clear that Pattinson was not telling the truth.

Sitting down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show promoting his upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore film, Redmayne recalled the time seeing a buff Pattinson in a gym preparing for his The Batman role, who at first he did not recognize. «When we made Fantastic Beasts it was at the same studio that Rob was making Batman and we shared a gym because my character and my body is so buff,» Redmayne joked. «One day I went to the gym and I walked in and there was this guy with a high ponytail, massive, doing the most extraordinary stunts I've ever seen with his stunt director.»
