Psychological cult horror game classic Alice: Madness Returns is now available to buy on Steam again after being delisted in 2016, over five years ago. A new game in the Alice series, Alice: Asylum, has been in the works for some years from developer American McGee, but fans have been hoping for a new way to experience the original — and its sequel — for perhaps longer.
Spicy Horse Games' Alice: Madness Returns released across Xbox 360, PS3, and both Steam and EA's own Origin launchers for PC in 2011, and has been since been included as part of the EA Play subscription, which also made it available on the Xbox Game Pass. It was removed from Steam by EA when its license expired in September 2016 in an attempt to incentivize purchases from its own Origin service. The game is a sequel to American McGee'sAlice and chronicles a far darker take on the characters and world of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland, with Alice Liddel portrayed as a young woman determined to restore her sanity and uncover the truth behind her family's death by venturing into a gothic and twisted-looking video game Wonderland.

The news of Alice: Madness Returns' Steam availability was confirmed by American McGee on Twitter, who praised someone only referred to as "B" for being a "one-man crusade" in making the resurrection and Steam relaunch possible. As well as being available for purchase on Steam, fans of the cult classic horror can also get their hands on the game through Xbox Game Pass for PC, via EA Play.
