Tomb Raider 2 With Alicia Vikander Scrapped As MGM Loses Rights
The planned Tomb Raider 2 movie has been scrapped as MGM loses the rights and kicks off a massive bidding war for the IP. Alicia Vikander starred in the 2018 live-action reboot of the franchise, based in part on the 2013 video game, which was a reboot of the game series. Directed by Roar Uthaug, Tomb Raider was a hit, pulling in $274 million worldwide, prompting development of a sequel. Vikander was expected to return to the role for Tomb Raider 2, which was set to be written and directed by Lovecraft County creator Misha Green.
