Bridgerton breakout star Regé-Jean Page reveals he wouldn't mind if they recast his character for future seasons. The Netflix romance series, which is set in Regency era England, is based on the novels of the same name by Julia Quinn. Season 1, which adapted the 2000 book The Duke and I, followed the steamy exploits of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the nine siblings in the Bridgerton family. She fell in love with the handsome and roguish Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Page), while attempting to fake a relationship, and naturally they ended up getting married by the Bridgerton season 1 ending.
