Avatar Live-Action Netflix Show Casts Aang's Waterbending Teacher
Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series has cast actor A Martinez as Aang's waterbending teacher, Master Pakku. The original animated series aired on Nickelodeon between 2005 and 2008, where it was cherished by fans of all ages. In 2018, Netflix announced its plans to develop a live-action reimagination of the acclaimed fantasy adventure show. At that time the original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were attached as executive producers and showrunners, but they left the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series in 2020 citing creative differences. Now, Albert Kim is serving as a showrunner on the big-budget show, which approximately costs $15 million per episode.
