Monster Hunter Wilds will feature attack names displayed in the HUD for players to figure out what kinds of moves they’re doing.
According to IGN, Capcom got the idea to have this as a HUD element during the Monster Hunter World collaboration event with Final Fantasy 14.
While working on the event, which brought Final Fantasy‘s Behemoth to Monster Hunter as an MMO raid-styled fight, Final Fantasy 14 producer Naoki Yoshida told Monster Hunter Wilds director Yuya Tokuda that displaying attack names would be a good idea because players like to see the names of their attacks as they’re doing it.
The Behemoth fight in Monster Hunter World, for context, allowed players to keep an eye on what attacks the monster would be using.
This is because the fight itself involved players making use of various mechanics, such as needing to take cover behind comets when the meteor attack is used.
