UPS CEO Sony Updates country Show

Helldivers 2 Is Turning The Negative Reviews Into A Cape

thegamer.com

Helldivers 2 announced over the weekend that players would soon have to link their Steam accounts to PSN to continue playing, a move that drew so much backlash that Sony completely walked back the announcement mere days later.

However, it wasn't quick enough to stop a review bomb that tanked the game's overall score. Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt is taking it in his stride, as he plans to add the now-infamous sudden review drop to the game as a cape, immortalising this moment by allowing players to show it off every time they deploy to dole out some sweet liber-tea.

Charging for a cape that commemorates one of the most controversial days in Helldivers 2 history would probably go down as divisive in of itself, so naturally, Pilestedt has no plans to make you pay for the Steam review cape (we really need a catchier name).

Players are even coming up with in-universe descriptions for it, like it being a "commemoration for liberating 100-something countries of Helldivers and restoring free democratic autonomy to PC players".

As for that catchier name, suggestions include "Voice of Democracy", "Will of the People", and "We Dive Together". There's no word on when it'll be added, but in the meantime, the community is rallying players to bring the review score back up now that the update has been reversed.
