Lionsgate has officially changed the release date for Guy Ritchie’s newest action thriller. This comes over a year since the studio successfully acquired the rights to the star-studded project.
“The film follows two extraction specialists who must designate a route of escape for a senior female negotiator,” reads the initial synopsis.
Originally slated for a January 27, 2025 theatrical release, Lionsgate has decided to remove Ritchie’s In The Grey movie from its theatrical calendar in the meantime. According to Deadline, the project’s scheduled release was delayed because the movie is unfinished. At the moment, it’s unclear how close the project is to completion.
The film is written and directed by Ritchie, who will also serve as a producer along with Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. The project is described as a big-budget action spectacle laced with Ritchie’s trademark humor. The ensemble cast will be led by Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza Gonzales, who all previously worked with Ritchie. Joining them are Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Jason Wong (), Carlos Bardem (Assassin’s Creed), Fisher Stevens (Succession), and more.
Ritchie most recently explored the colorful and eccentric world of the British upper class in Netflix’s The Gentlemen series starring Theo James, which is set to return for a second season. Besides The Gentlemen series, Ritchie is also currently working on the Young Sherlock series and the fantasy adventure movie Fountain of the Youth starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
