Oblivion Fan Remake Skyblivion Reveals New Update on Development

The fan-made remake of Oblivion in Skyrim's engine, Skyblivion, has finally released a new update on development, giving fans another look at how much progress is being made at the moment. Few Skyrim mods have gotten players as hyped as Skyblivion, and any update is much appreciated by the community.

The Skyrim modding scene is a big part of the reason the game remains extremely active in 2024. Gamers are able to craft a truly unique experience, and by using just a few mods, are able to make the 2011 RPG look like it was released in the modern day. Some players choose to use a few smaller mods, while others instead choose to completely overhaul their games with one of the amazing Skyrim total conversion mods. Recreating previous Elder Scrolls games in Skyrim is also a task that many talented modders take on, although few actually make it all the way to release. In this regard, Skyblivion looks like the exception.

In the new Skyblivion development diary, the team behind one of the most promising Skyrim mods ever details the next chapter on the way to release. It begins by detailing the Great Forest, showcasing the kind of NPCs that Skyblivion players can expect to meet, before moving on to Ayleid Ruins. It shows off a ton of the work done to make the Ayleid Ruins visually distinct, and frankly, it looks great. Another huge development here is the implementation of custom UI, resembling that of Oblivion. This includes the lockpicking mini-game, which has been completely remade as it was back in 2006.

Skyblivion laid out its roadmap to release back in June 2023, and it certainly seems on track to hit its 2025 release date. However, it isn't clear at the moment whether this will be earlier or later in the year. The video does reiterate that the Skyblivion project remains on the lookout for volunteers, with 3D artists desired in particular to help release as fast as possible.

With any mod like Skyblivion, there's always a running joke about whether it will actually be
